It's Friday!

Photobucket

Friday is here! I have a very exciting weekend ahead!

I get my hair cut tonight! I was back and forth between short and ombre. I'll let you know what I decide!

I have family coming in to town for my Easter Egg Hunt. It's an Alice in Wonderland theme and I am so excited! I'll be sure to post pictures next week!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday!

It's Thursday! You know what that means? Tomorrow is Friday!! Yay! Thursday is a day of Thankfulness on many blogs I've found. Speaking of Thankfulness, we had a mini Thanksgiving meal this week! I made a Turkey in the Crock Pot, which I've been able to eat off of for the past few days! I also had my first attempt at making good ole Southern Cornbread Dressing all by myself! This is my husband's favorite dish, and probably mine too. I was really nervous how it would turn out because I wasn't following a recipe, just free stylin! He gave it an A+ and I thought it was pretty good if I do say so myself! Since I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out I didn't take pictures or write down a recipe. Next time I make another Thanksgiving meal, which will be well before Thanksgiving, I'll share the recipes!

So I guess this week I'm thankful for my Crock Pot! I've got a new creation in there today, I'll let you know tomorrow how it turns out!

I'm also thankful that it's almost the weekend! We have family coming in to town to stay with us and will probably have a cookout or something on Saturday night after my Easter Egg Hunt. I'm praying for No Rain! I just had lunch at the Golf Club next door and one of our Atlanta Meteorologists was there and said we should be good! Hopefully he's right! You can't always trust them...

Linking up with 2 lovely ladies today! Julia with Black Tag Diaries and Cami with First Day of My Life!

My Pins this week are all about HAIR! I have a hair appointment on Friday and was all about cutting it all off but now I'm having second thoughts! I can never make up my mind! I want to do something different but maybe I should go with the Ombre for the Summer! What do you guys think? Short or Ombre?

Brie in a Puff Pastry

This is one of my favorite appetizers, and it's incredibly easy! The first time I had it, my Brother-in law made it on his Big Green Egg. Not sure where this recipe came from but I will give credit to all of the Youngblood Eggers! If you don't have a Big Green Egg, don't worry, you can also make it in the oven! I brought this over to  our friends house this past weekend. I prepped it at home and made it in their oven.

This is all you need: 1 Puff Pastry Sheet (the box below comes with 2), 1 Block of Brie, Stacy's Pita Chips

Step 1: Lay one Puff Pastry Sheet on your counter and let it thaw. It only takes about 10 minutes to get soft enough to open up. Place the Brie in the middle.
Step 2: Use an egg to wet the edges to hold it together when you fold it over the Brie.

Step 3: Fold the Pasty over the Brie.

Step 4: Bake on 350 for about 20-30 minutes or until Golden Brown. Serve with Pita Chips.

Step 5: DEVOUR!

Tuesday Link Up!

toogoodintobetrue

Everyone link up and tell me about some of your favorite products, services, or anything I could be missing out on!

I actually had to pull this out last night and use it! I had a few bug bites from working outside this past weekend. This is another Young Livings Essential Oil (I have talked about Lavender before). Purification gets rid of the itch from a bug bite! No joke! Just put a couple drops on the bug bite and you won't be scratching anymore!

Toms! If you don't have a pair your feet are really missing out! I was wearing heels everyday to work and now I've been wearing my Toms. They are seriously the most comfortable shoes you can find!
I am one of those that has to have coffee every morning. I was being really bad and going to Starbucks probably 3-4 times a week. At $5 per coffee that started to really add up! I have a Keurig, which I can't live without! I got some new creamer to try and it's amazing! It's Cinnabon flavor! YUM!!

My First DIY Pinterest Project!

If there's one thing I'm not, it's Artistic! I wasn't born with a single creative gene. However, I love looking at Pinterest and seeing all the things I could make, and this weekend I decided to put one to the test!
I fell in love with this pantry door. How hard could it be to paint a door? I'd rather paint one tiny door than an entire kitchen! I really don't like to paint! Actually, it's the taping of the trim and crown molding that I hate and this required none of that!
I love the blue they used so I tried to do something similar that would go in my kitchen. The antique look they gave it really adds a lot! I should have read instructions first because my clueless self thought you painted over the blue door to give it that finished look. So after I had already gone to Home Depot and gotten all my supplies (besides the "top coat" for the antique finish) I realized you painted a darker color underneath the blue coat and then sanded it. So I just went with a dark beige paint we already had.

Step 1. Remove the door from the hinges and remove the door knob. I used 2 chairs to place the door on top which made it really easy to paint. Doing it out in the sun helped the paint dry in less than 30 minutes.

Step 2. I painted the door with a base coat that is supposed to replace sanding. Home Depot helped me find the correct paint for this.

Step 3. Add your color you want to show up when sanding the door to give it the antique look. I used a brown color we already had. If I had to do it over again I would have done a 2nd coat and probably gotten a darker color that would show up better.

Step 4. Paint your top coat. I used a very pale blue. After it dries use sandpaper to sand in the creases of the door. Here's a picture of the details since you can't really see them in the overall picture below.

Step 5. Put your door back! It was really hard for me to get a good picture. I don't have a good camera and the lighting wasn't the best. But you get the idea!

I added the word Pantry above the door as well. Click here to see how I made the letters.

DIY Antique Letters

Once again, this past weekend was my first attempt at being "Crafty". I painted my Pantry Door  and wanted something to go above. I decided I'd try to paint some wood letters. My original idea for them back fired but it ended up working out well in the end. I bought some dark brown spray paint and some "Crackle" white spray paint to go over and give it that crackled look. I failed to read the directions because apparently you have to buy a special crackle base. So when I did my top coat of the crackle spray paint it just colored them white.
So I went to plan B and re-sprayed them the dark brown and was going to stick with that. But then I started to run out of the spray paint and they weren't even. ERRR! So I used the blue paint from the door and painted over them. I let them dry for about 15 minutes in the sun and then used my sandpaper to scrap over the letters. I think they turned out pretty good!
I used these picture hanging strips instead of nailing them to the wall. My husband hates putting a bunch of nails in our walls!
Here's the finished look...

Happy Friday!

Photobucket

Yay for Friday! As always, I'm linking up with Lauren from My Grey Desk. I am so looking forward to the weekend (who isn't?)! This weekend we have absolutely no plans and I'm gonna take advantage of it. I was in LA (Lower Alabama) last weekend so the house hasn't gotten a good clean in 2 weeks! EEK! I'm probably one of the few that looks forward to cleaning. I just LOVE the end result! If the rain holds off maybe we can get to some yard work too!

Here's what I loved about this week...

1. Josh was hard at work last weekend while I was out of town. He checked off quite a few things on the "honey-do" list. He fixed our fence door that was blown off during our tornado scare a few weeks ago. And my FAVORITE, he added our address numbers to the house.

2. After my 6 hour drive home on Monday we met some of our besties for dinner. They were in Virginia last week visiting family and we were all going through withdrawals! This is Melanie and Andrew with Andrew's adorable niece Scarlett. Her onesie says "My Daddy is an Arrogant Bastard". haha love it!

3. I got my "O" tattoo touched up. My Momma, Sister, and I got this done a few months ago in honor of our last name, Osmanson (which I'm pretty sure is gonna die soon. My Dad has all sisters and all daughters. I don't know of any other Osmanson's!). I was a big girl and wen't all by myself this time! haha.

4. I found a lot of new recipes to try on Pinterest. I really stocked up at the grocery store this week. I made up my own version of Ceviche! I can't wait to make it again!

That's pretty much all that happened in our world this week. I hope everyone had a great week and will have an even better weekend!

Pin-Diculous!

Sensible Nonsense
I love looking on Pinterest daily (ok sometimes hourly) and finding stuff I like, and then some stuff I don't like! You know, those pins that make your eye brows raise and make you feel better about yourself! Link up with my friend Lindsey at Sensible Nonsense Blog and share your favorite Pin-Diculous Pins!

Poor Puppy!

Mantyhose- I would have to knock my husband out cold to get him in a pair of these!

I don't even think I need to comment...

Can I get this at Macys?

Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday

I'm gonna do a double link up this Thursday! I've been linking up every Thursday with Julia at Black Tag Diaries for Thankful Thursdays! I'm also going to link up for the first time with Life of Love's Thursday Thoughts!

I am SO thankful for my Job! I'm an event planner for a large neighborhood. Our next big event is our Easter Egg Hunt next weekend. I decided to add an Alice in Wonderland theme to the event. I've been thinking about all of the things we can do to incorporate this theme. Pinterest has been a big help! We will of course have the Easter Bunny at the event, but I'd like to give him the "White Rabbit" look. Maybe I'll get a giant clock and bow tie.
I also have my amazing and talented friend Lindsey (Sensible Nonsense Blog) working on some props. I found this bean bag toss game on Pinterest (pictured on the left). She decided to do a corn hole version instead. I can't wait to see how it will turn out!

She's already made me 100 of these "Eat Me" tags for our Tea Party Sandwiches.
Here are some other props she's working on...

We will also have Alice and the Mad Hatter at the event, as well as a Tea Party with finger sandwiches, Cookies, and Tea and Lemonade.

I'll let you all know how the event turns out! I can't wait to see how it all comes together!
